Have the tackler stand beside a mock ball carrier and walk off 3 yards to familiarize tacklers with the recognition area. On the coach’s command, the tackler executes a shimmy approach until their chin is on the ball carrier’s chest.

The ball carrier and tackler should be facing each other with approximately 10 yards between them. On the coach’s command the tackler will sprint towards the ball carrier. Once the tackler reaches the recognition area they will sink their hips and shimmy until their chin is on the ball carrier’s chest.
